DAPS2008 builds on the past two conferences which have focused on impulse/impact/shock loads.
The organising committee takes great pleasure in inviting you to the Third International Conference on Design and analysis of Protective Structures and Assets (DAPS2008).
The Conference will offer a technical program that will include three days with multiple streams.
Original papers on the following topics are invited to be presented at the conference, and to be included in the proceedings. For speakers who are going to present technical paper, please register and submit a 200-300-word abstract to admin@daps08.org. The abstract should briefly describe objectives, scope, methodology and expected results in the full paper.
Topics
- Threats
- Impact, blast and shock loading characteristics
- Protection concepts and design
- Above ground facility and protection
- Underground facility protection
- Explosive storage design and safety including magazines
- Impact and explosion testing methods
- Behaviours of materials under impact, blast and shock loadings
- Behaviours of structures under impact, blast and shock loadings
- Theoretical, numerical, and experimental analysis methods for structures under impact, blast and shock loadings
- The behaviour of structures damaged by impact, blast and shock loadings, including progressive collapse
- The protection of critical infrastructure systems
- Nuclear, chemical and major hazardous facilities design and analysis
- Ship, submarine and armoured vehicle design and analysis
- Thermobaric weapons
- The effects of Improvised Explosive Devices (IED), including Explosively Formed Projectiles (EFP) and their mitigation
- Protective barriers, including anti-ram raid devices
Conference Objectives
- to critically review and discuss the state of knowledge in the areas of structural behaviour and the design and construction provisions aimed at protecting structures against blast/shock and impact loadings,
- to identify problems for which the current state of knowledge and the design and construction provisions are insufficient,
- to recommend appropriate R&D activities aimed at correcting this situation,
- to enhance on going and to enable new multi-national collaborative activities.
